SIAD Studio Joins Forces with Standing with Giants for a Remarkable Normandy Project

In a heartwarming and inspiring partnership, SIAD Studio has once again joined forces with Standing with Giants for their latest and most significant project to date, aptly named "For Your Tomorrow, The People’s Tribute.” This ambitious endeavour harnesses innovative 3D building modelling and visualisation techniques to pay a profound tribute to the brave heroes of the past. The primary goal is to meticulously recreate 1,476 silhouettes that will take their rightful place at the hallowed British Normandy Memorial, a sacred site dedicated to honouring the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War II.
This includes individuals from the British Army, Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Air Force, Merchant Navy and even one valiant War Correspondent. Each silhouette encapsulates the profound sacrifice and unwavering commitment of these heroic souls, allowing us to connect with their memory on a profound level.
Honouring the Heroes at British Normandy Memorial
The British Normandy Memorial holds a special place in history, commemorating the pivotal moments of and the Battle of Normandy in 1944. These events marked a turning point during World War II, heralding the liberation of Europe. It was the British armed forces who played a central and courageous role in these historic endeavours. Tragically, more than 22,000 British soldiers paid the ultimate price for freedom. Until recently, there had been no single, dedicated memorial to honour their memory.
The inception of the Normandy Memorial Trust in 2016 marked the realisation of a longstanding dream held by Normandy Veterans - the dream of a British Normandy Memorial. After nearly six years of unwavering dedication and hard work, this dream became a reality. On Sunday June 6th 2021the British Normandy Memorial was officially opened, standing as a testament to the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought for freedom.
Standing with Giants: Art with a Purpose
To understand the profound significance of "For Your Tomorrow, The People’s Tribute," it is crucial to appreciate the driving force behind it. Standing with Giants is a non-profit organisation led by Dan Barton. This voluntary community project is dedicated to crafting large-scale art installations with a meaningful purpose. These installations serve as platforms for people to reflect on poignant themes while simultaneously raising funds for charitable causes.

The official opening date for the installation is set for April 2024, and it will remain on display at The British Normandy Memorial to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of D-Day for the duration of mid-August 2024.
